Jewellery Care
All of the jewellery sold on Magpiette is painstakingly handcrafted, and should last a long time with the right care.
All jewellery items should be gently cleaned only using warm, soapy water.
Apply all beauty products before putting on your jewellery and avoid contact between your jewellery and hairspray, deodrant or perfume where possible.
Remove your jewellery when swimming or doing household chores which involve the use of abrasive cleaners or chemicals.
SILVER
Silver will tarnish and dull slightly over time, due to the oxygen in the air. To restore silver to its original polished state, it can be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth or dip, which you can find in your supermarket. This should not be used for oxidised silver as it will remove the oxidised effect from the piece.
As an alternative to the chemical silver polish, you can also use a small amount of toothpaste on a soft toothbrush to gently clean and restore silver pieces.
GOLD PLATE
Gold plate and gold fill will wear over time with a lot of use to reveal the silver underneath, however all our plating is high quality and should last with careful use. Rings are subject to greater wear and will wear away quicker than other items. Items can be replated to restore the original gold.
BRASS
For the rare brass item on our store, brass is an alloy of zinc and copper, and will develop a patina over time. To restore the brighter bronze colour, use a little vinegar or lemon juice with water to clean it.
